Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday announced the official beginning of the much-discussed “Annapurna Yojana,” stating that the form fill-up process for the scheme will start from tomorrow across the state.
Speaking to reporters after an administrative meeting, the Chief Minister said the government has already instructed district and block-level officials to begin preparations for both online and offline application processes. According to the announcement, eligible women beneficiaries under the scheme may receive monthly financial assistance directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
“The work for Annapurna Yojana has already started. From tomorrow, people will be able to fill up forms through camps, local offices, and online portals,” Suvendu Adhikari said during the briefing.
Sources in the administration said the scheme aims to strengthen financial security for women in West Bengal. Officials are also preparing special help desks at block offices and government outreach camps to assist applicants in completing their registration process smoothly.
Applicants may be required to submit documents including Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, bank account details, mobile number, and address proof during the application process. The state government is expected to release detailed eligibility guidelines shortly.
Political discussions have already intensified following the announcement, with many calling the scheme one of the government’s major welfare initiatives ahead of the upcoming administrative cycle.
The government is likely to launch a dedicated online portal for the scheme, while offline forms will also be made available at designated government centers across the state.
